Echos: Reflection on Structure  2009

This body of work consists of eight paintings in pairs. Two pieces are placed side by side. One on a rigid board projecting from the wall by two inches, painted with encaustic that is continued around the edges. The other, painted on handmade Japanese paper with watercolour, is also positioned two inches from the wall. The pair contrast and reflect a friction between air, earth, density, and translucency.
