Tools for Daily Living, 2003
The tools for daily living referred to in the title of this work represent aspects of our insides, the internal organs, bones, muscles and nerves that allow our bodies to function outside our consciousness and our control. Once the idea was formed I set parameters to give structure to the series—size of paper, found objects, and clay figure. The resulting work is multi-layered visually and metaphorically and each separate part is charged through its marriage with the other elements of the piece. There are 23 separate works in this installation.
